katcuts in CUT, DIY, katmakes, memademay13, sewing

in the post from days 17&18 i wore a sweater-dress - the pattern was from CUT magazin.

First of all CUT is a great magazine, its full of inspirational articles on fashion and DIY, has a handful of sewing patterns in each number and usually is full of other DIY-ideas. And it is just wonderfully made, beautiful design and full of creative presentation ideas!

The pattern i used is the so called "star-schnitt" where they get a fashion designer to design a special garment for each number of the magazine. In this case it was from Haltbar.

The simplicity of the design called to me, also the fact that it had pockets already designed into the garment! Who doesn't need pockets?!?!
And its a wonderful item to have in my wardrobe, you can style it as a dress or as a tunic-shirt with pants!

However, what i have learned in the meantime is, that i have to do some renovation-work on it. At the time when i was sewing this garment i did not know yet that it is a bad idea to use the standard stitch on the sewing machine because it can tear! i will have to take out the lower hem and sew it using a double-back or jersey or small zigzag stitch.

Lesson learned.

(okay, i still have to do the repair work, but i know now what i have to do!)
