me made may'14

oh my, i nearly missed it!
me made may started today again. i am barely prepared, hence only pledging to wear something me made twice a week...
hope i'll do that at least!

today's me made object is a handknit shawl. the pattern was the mystery knitalong "follow your arrow" by ysolda teague. great knitalong, with each clue you had two choices to follow, hence a myriad of different shawls emerged!

cheers kat

kat's korb

Also, viel Spaß beim Korb nähen!

just quickly sewing a basket

i've been meaning to share a tutorial i found via pinterest by Juliette Lanvers for Weallsew; namely how to sew a basket!

sounds crazy, but its super simple and loads of fun to go full throttle with your sewing machine and sew 50m of rope into a basket.
of course i already have big plans for a bunch of baskets, but as usual it will take some time to realize them...

well, have fun sewing your own baskets!

cheers, kat

Testknitting for Laylock

Every now and then i like to do a testknit, its interesting to get a peak into the design process of a designer, exciting to be able to knit something before the pattern is officially released and it gives a sense of accomplishment to finish a testknit in time for the designer.

Testknitting for Derya Davenport aka Laylock is very nice, since her patterns are great.
In this case she is back with a new recipe for sideways shawls - making two versions of a sideways shawl totally customisable! what a great idea! Take her pattern, use whatever stitchpattern you like from any stitchdictionary and off you knit!

She is planning to release the revised pattern on June 20th, so keep an eye on her blog!

best, kat

WWKIP-day, Vienna, AUT

lg, kathi

this year's WWKIP-day is nearly here, there are a lot of meetings already listed, can be found at the official page (unfortunately you have to register to see the list) or on ravelry!

In Vienna, we will meeton on Sunday, 16.June.2013 in Stadtpark, on the second big patch of lawn when entering from Stubentor.

Don't forget to bring foods & drinks, something to knit or crochet and maybe also a blanket or so to sit on the grass.

MMM13 - day 26&27

the end is nigh...

day 26 - back to the standards, the breezy cardigan (pattern by Hannah Fettig)

kat's breezy cardigan

day 27 -  the lacy summer sweater

Kat's lacy summersweaterThis was one of my first successful handknit sweaters (there were some horrendously ugly trials before that) and it still is from my pre-ravelry days. Remember?

In my case this sweater is from 2007 maybe 2008. The pattern is vintage, if you want to call a pattern book from 1981 vintage.

the bookit is full of different patterns, knitting, crochet, embroidery, for all ages and sizes, it even includes bikinis (yes, more than one pattern for a bikini!) and babybibs. the patterns are still not uploaded to the Ravelry pattern database, maybe i should at least add my sweater there - for the fun of it.

Yesterday also was spent with tracing a pattern, cutting and sewing it, but time was too short and the nearly finished skirt still needs hemming. more on the skirt once the hemming is done and i can take good pics!

now, if the weather could finally get back to be summery, i could actually wear my other selfmade skirts!

cheers, kat
