Nerdwars, follow up

Okay, its now been 15days of nerdwars.

so far, i do like it a lot. i have been able to answer three of the 5 challenges with more or less good answers and projects.

i have to confess though, that its a lot harder for me to tie-in the projects with my nerdery (i am in Team fishbiscuit aka Lost-series-themed) than i would have guessed!

oh and i proposed a dissertation! how fun is that! i will be making a cabled sweater and learn about Rhizomes on the side. very cool!

nerd wars!

so, i have finally managed to sign up in time for Nerd Wars on ravelry!
this is one of those games where you get challenges to craft something with a possible tie-in to your nerd-themed group.
sounds like great fun to me!

Leider ist Nerd Wars wieder ein ravelryspiel, dass auf englisch gespielt wird, eine deutssprachige Gruppe habe ich nicht gefunden.

ich näh dann mal schnell einen korb...

schon längere Zeit wollt ich ein Tutorial via pinterest von Juliette Lanvers für Weallsew hier teilen (leider auf englisch, aber die Bilder sind wirklich klar! pdf speichern!); und zwar wie man einen Korb näht!

jaja, klingt verückt, aber es ist echt einfach und macht ganz schön spaß so mit Vollgas auf der Nähmaschine mal 50m Seil zu einem Korb zu nähen.
Ich hab auch schon große Pläne für weitere Körbe, nur brauch ich noch ein bißchen Zeit bis die Realität werden...

Also, viel Spaß beim Korb nähen!

just quickly sewing a basket

i've been meaning to share a tutorial i found via pinterest by Juliette Lanvers for Weallsew; namely how to sew a basket!

sounds crazy, but its super simple and loads of fun to go full throttle with your sewing machine and sew 50m of rope into a basket.
of course i already have big plans for a bunch of baskets, but as usual it will take some time to realize them...

well, have fun sewing your own baskets!

Salzburg, baby!

Wir sind mal wieder auf der Durchreise in Salzburg gelandet, dementsprechend will ich ein paar meiner lieblingsorte hier vorstellen!

Cafe Fingerlos

großartige Konditorei in der Nähe vom Mirabellgarten in der Mitte der Stadt. Es gibt, wenn ich mich nicht irre. den ganzen tag frühstück, wie üblich verschiedene Arten sowie zusätzliche frühstücksergänzungen. und falls nach dem reichhaltigen frühstück noch platz ist gibt es eine große auswahl an kuchen und torten (war bei uns leider noch nie der fall).
Kleine warnung; das fingerlos ist ein sehr beliebtes frühstückscafe in salzburg, dementsprechend voll ist es vormittags auch!

der andere grund warum ich das cafe fingerlos mag, ist, weil es wie meine urgroßeltern heißt "Fingerlos" und ich mich, seit ich klein bin frage, woher dieser Name kommt. wirklich; "Finger Los"??? klingt recht blutig... ;)

Testknitting for Laylock

Every now and then i like to do a testknit, its interesting to get a peak into the design process of a designer, exciting to be able to knit something before the pattern is officially released and it gives a sense of accomplishment to finish a testknit in time for the designer.

Testknitting for Derya Davenport aka Laylock is very nice, since her patterns are great.
In this case she is back with a new recipe for sideways shawls - making two versions of a sideways shawl totally customisable! what a great idea! Take her pattern, use whatever stitchpattern you like from any stitchdictionary and off you knit!

She is planning to release the revised pattern on June 20th, so keep an eye on her blog!
